Today we introduce Jen, our Middle Grade and YA Non-Fiction organizer:
Although my passion is reading and writing about children’s books, I’m actually an engineer by training, with advanced degrees in Industrial Engineering. I co-own a small software company, where I primarily manage sales, marketing and training. On my frequent business trips, I can usually be found reading children’s and young adult fiction. I live in San Jose, California.
I believe strongly that all children should have the opportunity to grow up loving books and reading. To that end, I publish a range of parent-friendly book reviews on my blog, Jen Robinson’s Book Page. I also cover news about children’s literacy initiatives, and anything that I can find about raising readers. I am a postergirl for readergirlz, where I help recommend books with strong female characters for teen girls, and a board member for the Foundation and Friends of the Santa Clara City Library.
I will be the coordinator for middle grade and young adult non-fiction for this year’s Cybils awards, after working in young adult fiction last year. Ultimately, what keeps me blogging is the wonderful people I have met. I look forward to working with this year’s Cybils team.
