We’re glad you asked! The Call for Judges is now closed and our category chairs are organizing their panels. We hope to announce the panels in the next week-ish. Chairs will reach out to individual applicants, so be sure to check your email.
In the meantime, you can be getting ready for the Public Nomination period, which begins on 16 September 2024. This is two weeks earlier than in previous years. Mark your calendar so you don’t miss it. [Publishers and authors, see the note below about your submission window.]
This handy-dandy checklist will help you get your nominations list ready! To be eligible a book must be:
- written for a youth audience;
- one you believe represents a perfect combination of high literary merit and reader appeal;
- published in the United States or Canada between 10/16/2023 and 10/15/2024;
- widely available through booksellers & libraries; and
- meets our inclusivity guidelines.
We recommend having a back-up nomination. A book can only be nominated one time. If someone beat you to the punch, then you’ll need another book to nominate. Also important: You can only nominate one book per category per person. DEMS OUR RULES. Our form will let you know if either of these scenarios occurs.
If you are a full slate person, check out our Eligible in 2024 shelf on Goodreads. It’s an easy way to discover books recommended to us that are in categories you don’t normally read.
Self-nomination and nominations by people who have an association with a book are not accepted at this time. Publishers and authors, you must wait until the public nomination period closes before submitting your own titles. The Publisher/Author Submission period is 10/1/2024-10/15/2024
