Public Nominations #CYBILS2024
9/16/2024 to 9/30/2024

Yes, indeed! It’s the first date we circle on our calendar every year: the day you can finally nominate your favorite children’s and young adult books of 2024!

Everything you need to know is in this post!

To make the process easier and ensure books are nominated in the correct place and so you can see if a book you love has already been nominated, we have included category descriptions with the nomination lists.

The 4-1-1 for book eligibility
To be eligible a book must be:

  • written for a youth audience.
  • one you believe represents a perfect combination of high literary merit and reader appeal.
  • published in the United States or Canada between 10/16/2023 and 10/15/2024.
  • widely available through booksellers & libraries.
  • meet our inclusivity guidelines.

The 4-1-1 on the nomination process
One book nomination per category per person. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Readers can nominate a book in any category.
  • Once a book has been nominated, it can’t be re-nominated.
  • The nomination form will kick you back if you try to nominate more than one book or if someone else has already nominated it.
  •  Check our Eligible in 2024 Goodreads shelf to find nominations in categories that you don’t normally read.

Self-nomination and nominations by people who have an association with a book are not accepted at this time. Publishers and authors, you must wait until the public nomination period closes before submitting your own titles. The Publisher/Author Submission period is 10/1/2024-10/15/2023.

Follow this link to nominate your favorite books in all our categories. If you don’t know where the book should go, please read through the descriptions to help you decide. If you’re still not quite sure, make your best guess, and we can straighten things out behind the scenes.
