Snuggle. Cherish. Sweet. Those are three words that popped out to us in the reviews we’re featuring this week. And, perfectly timed for tomorrow’s feasting: books about family and being together.

BOARD BOOK
Elmo and his mom love playing their favorite game together, especially on Mother's Day! Babies and toddlers will enjoy peeking beneath the easy-to-lift oversized flaps on every spread to join in the hide-and-seek fun. A great book to read for Mother's Day or any day!
Gina @ Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers – This charming board book is sweet and simple, with wonderfully bright illustrations, giving little ones fun time with their red, furry friend, and more reading time with dear old Mom. It’s a book I can see being cherished by new parents as well as the little ones they share it with, but also being passed on down the line for the next generation of readers to enjoy as well.
FICTION PICTURE BOOK
Evergreen the squirrel is afraid of many things: thunder, hawks, and the dark paths of Buckthorn Forest. But when her mother tasks Evergreen with delivering soup to her sick Granny Oak, the little squirrel must face her fears and make the journey.
Along the way, Evergreen is met by other forest dwellers – some want to help her, but some want her mother’s delicious soup! It’s up to Evergreen to stay the course, and those who help her will surprise and delight young readers.
Brooke @ Goodreads – Ready for a longer read to snuggle up with in the crisp fall weather? It seems like longer, more text-heavy picture books are a bit more classic and carry that old-fashioned quality. Sometimes we need that. Evergreen reminds us a bit of the Frog & Toad classics, with the book split into smaller sections or stories and coming together in the end. Evergreen is flawed, but brave and endearing. Her story is a growth-mindset tale with the best of them.
Natalie @ Goodreads – With a heroine to root for and surprising plot twists, this adventure story feels like a classic.
