Dear publishers and authors,
Thank you for your patience! We know you are very excited for the opportunity to get your books in front of our judges. Now that readers have had the opportunity to nominate their favorite titles, it is your turn. This is your opportunity to submit titles and fill in the gaps that may have been missed during our public nomination period.
Starting today, and until October 25, you may submit your own eligible titles for consideration, up to 10% of your books published in 2023, rounded. [If you published fewer than ten titles, you may still submit one title.] If a book was nominated during the public period, there is no need to submit it, and it does not count toward your 10%.
As you proceed, please consider our dual criteria of literary merit and kid/teen appeal. We’ are looking for books that are high quality, well-written, and that kids will love. We are also strongly supportive of greater diversity in children’s books, especially books written by authors with lived experiences representing marginalized communities. Please consider that in choosing your submissions. You can read more about our Inclusivity Initiative here.
- View the complete submission instructions here.
- The link to download the submission spreadsheet is item #5 in the instructions.
Submitted books are considered on a fair and equal basis with nominated books; there is no advantage to one or the other. We ask that you please do not call submitted titles “nominees.”
I will be in touch as soon as possible with a list of your nominated titles. You can view the 2023 Nominations by Category here:
