Life still isn’t back to “normal” (we are starting to wonder what “normal” was and if there really was such a thing). School is probably virtual (or if it’s in-person, it’s fraught with anxiety). Most places are still closed, or if they’re open, it’s only in a limited capacity. And so, we do what we bookish people do: we read! And, this year, probably more than other years, we are in need of enthusiastic readers who are willing to throw their hat into the ring of this little grassroots award and help us create something worth celebrating.
We NEED your (and anyone who talks enthusiastically about kidlit on the internet be it on a traditional blog, YouTube, Goodreads, Instagram, Twitter) help to make this Cybils a successful one!
Before you fill out the application, be sure to check out our FAQs about judging for us. There is this one, this one, and this one. PLEASE do this beforehand, so you know what to expect!
After you’ve done that, if you still want to sign up (and we hope you do!), here’s the link to the application form. Be sure to fill out the category choices, and make sure they are ones that you will be willing to spend a lot of time reading (because you will be spending a lot of time with these books). The deadline to submit your application is September 7th at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
Our caveat: choosing judges isn’t a popularity contest. We try very hard to fit people to the best categories. If we don’t pick you, it’s not because we don’t like you. We hope you’ll still nominate your favorite books, drop by to read reviews, and follow the progress of the award.
Let’s make this year a great one! (Heaven knows 2020 needs it!)
