Sheila took on a new challenge this year, as she ran for a seat on the Baltimore County Council. She didn’t win her primary, but she did earn 43% of the vote, made a lot of new friends, and learned a lot in the process. A lifetime of reading fantasy prepares one surprisingly well for entering the political arena! Sheila continues her work as an activist fighting for issues such as equity in housing and transportation, a living wage, the clean energy economy, healthcare for all, and campaign finance reform, as well as volunteering for other Democratic candidates. Most of her reading these days is issue-oriented nonfiction, but she still finds time to relax with YA SFF when she has some down time.
