One of our Round II judges in Fiction Picture Books this year is Katie Davis, who blogs at Brain Burps About Books. Katie Davis is the author and illustrator of several picture books herself, and on her blog, she posts podcasts about children's literature, including fascinating behind-the-scenes interviews with authors and illustrators.
Last month, Katie looked at Cybils FPB finalist Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein, the story of a rooster dad who tries repeatedly–but unsuccessfully–to read bedtime stories to his daughter uninterrupted. In her podcast, she talks to the author about how he created his book:
In this episode we talk about the kind of materials he used, and his process in getting from the idea to the finished product, among other stuff.
