Wild Rose Reader's Elaine Magliaro has been a longtime Cybils advocate and participant, and this year she's on our Round I Poetry panel. A former elementary school teacher and school librarian, she's a children's poet in her own right, and posts some of her own work to her blog as well as blogging about children's poetry books and resources.
Earlier this fall, she penned a very thorough review of Dark Emperor and Other Poems of the Night, written by past Cybils winner Joyce Sidman and illustrated by Rick Allen. This book features nature poems about the flora and fauna of the forest–at night. In her review, Elaine says:
Dark Emperor is a "must have" book for teachers who enjoy connecting science with poetry/literature–and for kids who are budding naturalists!
